Ornament Gifts for the Last-Minute Shopper

How crazy is it that Christmas is less than a week away! I was so organized and had most of my gifts purchased before December event started… and then I had a big lull and need to finish up this week. Ornaments are such a good last-minute gift idea – and this year you can take that idea up a notch with all of the beauty, skincare and even home-themed ornaments that come with presents in them! The packaging is so fun and you can either gift them as-is by hanging them on the tree or give them as stocking stuffers.

Last-Minute Holiday Gifts - Ornament Gifts

I’m sharing details on some of my favorites below – and you can shop even more at the bottom of this post by scrolling and clicking on the ornaments in the widget. Grab an ornament gift online or at stores like Sephora, Ulta or Target. What are your favorite stocking stuffers or low-cost gift ideas that come in cute packaging?

Ornament Gifts

1. Nest Candle: You can’t go wrong with a candle from this brand. They’ll make your house smell like a luxurious spa. The ornaments come in the best holiday scents that will make you want to go back for a bigger version.

2. IT Cosmetics CC Cream: I tried this out for the first time last week and have been loving it! It’s lightweight yet still gives you nice coverage that actually stays put. Extra bonus is the SPF 50.

3. amika Dry Shampoo: I’ve always heard great things about this but have yet to try it out. Might have to grab this ornament to try it out as a travel size and take it on my next trip!

4. Too Faced Mascara: This has been one of my go-to mascaras for years (I tend to switch them up and layer depending on where I’m heading). It gives you lots of volume and people are obsessed with it.

5. BeautyBlender: Almost New Year, so probably time to either replace yours or grab one for the first time – it’s a game changer when it comes to applying things like CC cream or foundation. I just learned the best way to use it is by running under water first so it doesn’t absorb all of your makeup!

6. Clinique Merry Moisture Set: This comes with their popular moisturizing lip balm crayon and face lotion. These products are a pretty safe bet for anyone who likes to at least wear a little lip color.

7. thisworks sleep tight: This is perfect for a new mom or someone who needs a good night’s sleep. It comes with 3 essential oil products – 2 pillow sprays (one to help you fall asleep, another to keep you asleep) and a de-stressing aromatherapeutic rollerball that will relax you for bedtime.

8. Philosophy Bubble Bath, Shower Gel & Face Washes: You can’t go wrong with any of these – they smell so good. They also have some of their popular face lotions in ornament packaging.

9. Buxom Full-On Lip Polish: I always come back to this brand for lip gloss – and this one will give you a nice gloss that also works over your favorite lip color.

Stocking Stuffer Gift Guide 2016

The pre-holiday season got the best of me and admittedly I am WAY behind on my gift guide content that I had originally planned (sorry!!). The holidays are now here, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who hasn’t quite checked everyone off the gift list yet. One of my favorite things on Christmas morning when I was little was opening up my stocking – my mom wrapped every little thing in it so it took forever!

So today I’m sharing lots of last-minute stocking stuffers from either stores you probably have nearby or good old Amazon Prime. Bought all your gifts already? Pick some of these up for yourself – especially the gift sets that are only available at this time of year and are usually great value! Shop everything via the links and images below, where you’ll find even more options in each category.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Hope you all get to disconnect and spend time with family and friends.

Friday Faves: The Best Lip Products

Happy Friday! It’s been a crazy few weeks and I’m long overdue for a beauty post. A few months ago, it was National Lipstick Day (did you know that was an actual thing?!), and it made me want to put together a post on the latest lip products. But then I decided to head straight to all of the bags I use on a regular basis and pull out the lip products I’m using – and loving – right now. Thanks to this blog and Sephora being across the street from my office, I’ve tried out lots of lipsticks, glosses, stains, balms, you name it, over the last few years.

It wasn’t until my wedding three years ago that lip color became one of the two beauty products that make me feel most put together (mascara is also must for me!). I went to Sephora in search of a natural-looking lipstick that would actually stay on for our big day because I knew I was going to forget to reapply, and that’s when I discovered my go-to YSL lip stain (more on that below). Since then, I try to have some sort of lip color on, especially if I’m out at night.

Read on for my current faves and exactly what it is I love about each, along with my go-to lip treatment that I use daily. Let us know what your recommendations are in the comments below!

June Beauty Finds

I’m officially kicking off wedding season this weekend with a reception for one of my best college friend and her husband, so I thought it would be timely to share some of my latest beauty finds. Lots more to come this spring and summer with wedding style and beauty, but for now I’ll leave you with five beauty products I’m loving: my new favorite lip balm, a bronzer and blush duo, a choose-your-own mascara, a waterproof eye liner, and a palette of pastel eye and cheek colors that are perfect for spring. Read on to learn more and shop each product!

bareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-BalmsI always have a few different lip colors in my purse so I have something ready for any occasion, and Pop of Passion has quickly become one of my go-to’s. I love that they go on like a lip balm, giving lots of hydration and shine, but that they also give you color that actually stays put like a stain. I was skeptical, but somehow the oil-rich formula makes it last! I’m loving the Candy Pop (neon pink) and Plumberry Pop (pink plum) colors and can’t wait to try out more of the others: Nude, Peach, Pink and Rose Passion, as well as Tangerine and Punch Pop. {, $16 each}

Too Faced Soul Mates Blushing Bronzer: This bronzer won me over before I even tried it out because the color names happen to be both of my all-time favorite TV couples: Carrie & Big (Sex & the City) and Ross & Rachel (Friends). These limited-edition compacts come with blush and bronzer, giving your skin a sun-kissed bronze color with a pop of blush, which can be used separately or blended together. Carrie & Big is a light to medium bronzer with coral blush and Ross & Rachel is a medium to deep bronzer with pink blush. I’ve been using Carrie & Big daily!  {, $34}

Buxom Vanity Lash Mascara Bar: This is the first mascara “bar” I’ve ever seen and I have to say it’s a pretty smart concept! You get to pick from seven different mascara brushes at Sephora to pair with the mascara. The wand names speak for themselves: Big & Bushy, Full & Fabulous, Thick & Defined, Strong & Long, Itty Bitty, Curl & Contour and Lush & Lifted. I’ve used them on their own and also combined, as I loved to layer different mascara types to maximize the benefits. The mascara has biotin and provitamin B5 to help strengthen lashes (you may have heard biotin is great for your hair, and it’s also good for your lashes!) and shea butter, vitamin E and olive oil to nourish them. {, $22}

tarte clay pot Amazonian clay waterproof lineretch & sketch double-ended bamboo liner brush: A good eyeliner can make a big statement when it comes to eyes, and this one is definitely up there with the best of them. It’s a popular clay pot waterproof liner in luxe, gold packaging. What I love about it: it’s velvety, non-drying and with the 2-in-1 ergonomic liner brush (sold separately), you can create a crisp, thin line or a dramatic cat eye. The Amazonian clay in the liner gives you longer wear and it comes in black, brown, bronze and blackened plum. {, liner: $21, brush: $15}

Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Eye & Cheek Palette: This limited-edition palette comes with calm, serene and balanced tones that create sateen, watercolor-like finishes on your eyes and cheeks. The best way I can describe the colors as are pastels, and they are a fun way to stray from my usual pinks, golds and neutrals. There are lots of ways to wear this palette of six eye shadows and two cheek colors, one of which is to start with Purple Rain from the lash line through the crease, then blend Mist from the crease fading outward on the brow bone. Then add Cloud at the upper lash line, increasing in width blending outward and upward, and also blend it in along the bottom lash line. Finish with eye liner and mascara! {, $58}

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue & Modern Pop Collection {NEW!}

It’s no secret that bareMinerals is one of my absolute favorite makeup and beauty brands. I’ve been wearing it since I first started wearing real makeup in college. It all started with their original Get Started Kit, which has since been updated to feature some of their newer popular products.

I’m always excited when new bareMinerals products are launched because each one seems to get better and better. This year’s biggest introduction is their Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. Think BB, CC and tinted moisturizer… all in one and mineral-based. After just one day of using Complexion Rescue, it’s become part of my everyday routine, especially on weekdays when I need to look presentable but also get ready pretty quickly.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue #ComplexionRescue

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue gives you several skincare benefits, along with lots of hydration, and a naturally radiant look. It’s a gel cream that has SPF 30 and comes in 10 different shades, ranging from Opal (for the fairest porcelain skin with cool tones) to Sienna (for deep skin with neutral tones). I have very blonde hair and blue eyes but surprisingly have more of medium toned skin, especially during spring and summer, so I’ve been loving the Natural shade.

I’ve found that Complexion Rescue is great for work days when I need a bit of color for my face but don’t have time to put on a full face of makeup. I tend to have a bit of redness on my face, so I just layer on a bit more in those areas and I’m good to go. It’s super easy to apply – you can either use your fingertips or the Smoothing Face Brush for a more professional look.

You can pick up Complexion Rescue at lots of retailers –, Sephora, Nordstrom and more – for $29 (it’s so popular that at Sephora, it’s out of stock in some colors!).

bareMinerals Modern Pop #ModernPop

BareMinerals has also launched their limited-edition Modern Pop collection, which includes an eyeshadow palette, mascara, eyeliner, lipsticks and lip gloss topcoat:

  • Modern Pop READY Eyeshadow 4.0 The Modern Icon: Like all bareMinerals eyeshadows, this one gives you long-lasting color. This palette comes with Exhale (smoky taupe), Carefree (peach sherbet), Sophisticate (natural amethyst) and Chic (pink cashmere) that blend together to create looks for both day and nighttime. {$30}
  • Modern Pop Marvelous Moxie LipstickI’ve been loving the Marvelous Moxie line of lip products for a while now, and these lipstick shades are no exception. My favorite – which I’ve been wearing to work nearly every day since it arrived – is Express Yourself, a bright peach. I love the others, Fall in Love (tawny peach) and Dream Big (nude peach), but they didn’t work as well with my skin tone. I’m picky when it comes to lipsticks, but Marvelous Moxie lipsticks are nice and creamy and also give you nice color. Bonus: each of these lipsticks comes with a fun carry case. {$20 each}
  • Modern Pop Cream Glaze Top CoatIf you love the color of lipstick but want it to be a bit more shiny or soften the color, this is your product. It’s a sheer lip top coat that transforms the lip color you’re wearing into a shiny, creamy pastel. I’ve been wearing it over the Express Yourself lipstick color daily. Of course, it also works great on its own if you just need a little shine. {$18}
  • Modern Pop Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara: This mascara has a very unique wand – if you look at it, you’ll see that it has a spiral, which is meant to curve around your lashes and coat all angles with its intense black color. Lash Domination is a 10-in-1 mascara that’s volumizing, lengthening, thickening, separating, long-wearing and more. Plus it has lots of great nourishing minerals to give you lush lashes. {$18}
  • Modern Pop Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner: This is another product I’ve been a fan of for a while, but I had previously stuck with dark colors instead of this “Classic Cream” shade. I also apply this color to the inside corner of my eyes to brighten up my eyes and make me look more awake. All Lasting Line eyeliners have built-in sharpeners and the tip is angled in a way that makes it super easy to apply and blend. {$16}

March Beauty Finds

While I usually stick to a few go-to beauty routines that are rotated based on the occasion (work, daytime, nights out, etc.), I also love trying out new beauty products. I’ve been trying out lots of new makeup lately, and as a result, I’ve been finding new products here and there to add to the mix on a regular basis.

Because of this, I’m excited to start up a new monthly series of beauty finds, which will include everything from makeup and skincare to hair, bath and body products. Read on for my March favorites and shop each one using the links I’ve included.

March Beauty Finds on

  • Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick: I tried this out for the first time this weekend and I already need more (or all 18) of the colors it comes in. My biggest complaint about regular lipstick is that most just don’t last, and when I’m out at night or at work, I tend to forget to reapply. That’s why I love lip stains – and this lipstick stays put like a stain does, and also has the intense color of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss. I loved the Strawberry color I tried and gave it some extra shine with a clear gloss over it. {, $21}
  • bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 8.0 The Sexy Neutrals: I love makeup palettes, especially when I’m traveling, which I’ve been doing very often these past couple of months. BareMinerals has some great options right now that have great neutral color schemes, all of which can be used to dress up or down. I’m a big fan of the Sexy Neutrals right now, and the Power Neutrals and Posh Neutrals are great too. The eyeshadows even have benefits that reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness. {, $40 each}
  • tarte tartelette limited-edition Amazonian butter lipstick: I used to stick with clear lip gloss at work or on days where I’m dressed pretty casual, but lately I’ve decided that I feel so much more put together when I wear lip color. One of my new favorites for everyday wear is this one from tarte, which is a fun 15th anniversary version of one of the brand’s most popular lipsticks. This lipstick is infused with murumuru and capuacu butters that come straight from the Amazon. The new “ethereal pink” shade is a soft neutral pink that gives you just enough color and keeps your lips hydrated and smooth. {, $16}
  •  Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara: Mascara is my daily go-to, especially because I have very blonde eyelashes that need some color to make me look awake. This one is great for volume – it has a big mascara applicator that you apply from root to tip and immediately gives you full looking lashes. It’s also water-resistant, so it stays put. {, $9}
  • Freeman Beautiful Body Cucumber, Melon & Ginseng Body Wash: Just hearing the words “cucumber” and “melon” together brings me back to a scent that was one of my favorites back in my middle school days. This body wash, which came in one of my recent Beauty Box 5 boxes, is both cleansing and refreshing. For more on the subscription box Beauty Box 5, visit this post{, $.99}

Reese Witherspoon at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards {Get the Look}

One of my favorite parts of any awards show is watching the celebrities walk the red carpet in the latest in fashion and beauty. The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards was no different, and this year some of my favorite celebrity looks were Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Gwyneth Paltrow.

While we don’t all have the luxury of wearing couture gowns to awards shows, you can recreate Best Actress in a Motion Picture nominee Reese Witherspoon’s makeup with the help of her friend and makeup artist Molly R. Stern. Read on for more on Reese’s Golden Globes makeup, which Stern called a “statuesque and golden” look to complement her silver gown by Calvin Klein Collection (which I loved on her!).
