Target x Lilly Pulitzer {Collection Preview & $300 Giveaway!}

When I started hearing the hype over the Target x Lilly Pulitzer launch, which starts on April 19, I admit that I was excited, but not nearly as excited as I was when I saw the actual collection. I had my obsession over Lilly during high school and will pick up a few pieces here and there nowadays, but I’m telling you, I want almost everything in this Target line. Everything is cute, practical, bright and affordable.

I’m sure the Target x Lilly Pulitzer collection is going to sell out quickly, so today I’m sharing a preview of some items I have my eye on. I’ll update it with links once it launches – and in the meantime, you can enter to win a $300 Target gift card below!

Friday Faves {April 10, 2015}

Cheers to the weekend, the weather in New England finally starting to feel like spring today. Now time for my Friday Faves…

1. Home office perfect for city living. Why didn’t I discover this mini desk before I put a not-as-perfect desk into a tiny random room we have that doubles as an office and storage? This desk is both a functional desk and nightstand – great for a spare bedroom. Buy it here in white or chocolate – it’s even on sale. #iwantit {}

2. DIY floral arrangements. Is there anything Blake Lively doesn’t do? She has a trick for creating her own floral arrangements, and all it takes is heading to your local grocery store and picking up a few of their generic, pre-made bouquets. Then you rearrange into prettier bouquets for around the house. {}

3. Make-ahead Chipotle-style burrito bowls. That says it all, doesn’t it? I’m all about a mexican “bowl” of any type, but mine usually consist of lettuce, taco meat, veggies and the usual toppings. This recipe takes it up a notch but is still pretty easy and can be prepped ahead of time (and it can even be stored in the freezer). You just make chicken, cilantro-lime rice, black beans and corn salsa, then add toppings. {}

4. More habits of organized people. I do a few of these (write everything down… check – I’m a crazy list person)… but I could use some work on others (having a home for everything, having less stuff, etc.). This is a good, realistic list of things that do work if you commit to them. I’m organized when it comes to productivity, but my desk and house certainly don’t look like they belong to an organized person… {}

Friday Faves {March 6, 2015}

Friday Faves

1. Pasta deliciousness. If I could, I might eat pasta every day – or at least rotate it with pizza every other day. This round-up of easy pasta recipes is now bookmarked on my computer and I can’t wait to try some out. {}

2. Perfect black wedges. I’ve had my eye on these black suede wedges for a while, and now that the Shopbop sale is on, I might have to get them. The sale ends tomorrow – more sale finds in yesterday’s post here{}

3. Lennon & Maisy. I’m addicted to the show Nashville and also happened to go to the city last weekend (love). The two sisters in the show aren’t acting when they sing… they are amazing. Love their cover of “That’s What’s Up” – listen below! {Lennon & Maisy YouTube}

4. Coffee table inspiration. Our coffee table looks nothing like this, but in a perfect, more organized world it would, especially when entertaining with vino and apps. So pretty, right? {}

Friday Faves {October 3, 2014}

I took today off from work and had a great day of productivity and me-time. Nothing feels better than crossing lots of things off of my never-ending to do list! Check out my Friday Faves below – and have a great weekend. :)

 photo 30b32f7d-c4f8-492b-8423-12ef2053d881_zps7b453758.jpg

  1. Beautiful home office decor by photographer Deborah Zoe. How perfect is that shelf with photos above the desk? And all the white! As the post says, it’s truly a “little slice of pink and gray heaven.” {}
  2. Perfect fall jacket by Barbour from Jcrew. It’s the Clearaway Quilted Jacket… and I think I need it. I love a nice quilted jacket – and this one even has a hood! {}
  3. Amazing book turned movie. Gone Girl was sold out this weekend at the movie theaters, but I can’t wait to see this movie. Not only was the book great… Ben Affleck makes it even more of a win. {pic via}
  4. Festive pumpkins. Because let’s face it… orange doesn’t go with anyone’s home decor that I can think of. These DIY pumpkins are so simple and easy! And I just love gold everything. {}

Nate Berkus for Target {Get the Look}

I have a slight obsession with all things gold and neutral, which is why I am loving the Fall 2014 Nate Berkus for Target home collection, which launched today. I had to limit myself to these gold and white vases (bottom left below) but easily could have checked out with the majority of the line if I had unlimited budget. Check out some of my favorite items below and the full line here!

Buy Items Directly from an Image with new iPhone App Piccing {Review}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Piccing. All opinions are 100% mine.

As a Pinterest addict, I was excited to try out a new iPhone app, Piccing, and share my first impression with you. From my experience trying out Piccing, I discovered that this app is a fun way to explore and “picc” visual content from categories ranging from women’s fashion, food and pets, to DIY, home decor, toys and more. The main differentiator between this app and others is that it’s designed to direct you to purchase items you see in the photos with just one click.

 photo 8a99df40-16b3-4439-893c-a402bf22dddb_zpsfef41a7c.jpg

How it works: Download the app, select a few categories that are of interest to you and begin browsing. If you see images that you like, go ahead and “picc” them, which is a similar experience to pinning an item to one of your boards on Pinterest. You can also add your own image by uploading through the website or by using your camera/photo album on your iPhone.

There are little orange circles on some of the images, which you can tap to browse similar items. When you do that, a list of items pops up and you can scroll through and click on items you like, which then brings you to a page outside of the app to purchase that item. You can also mark items within images you’re browsing or that you upload.

 photo e01344b9-2987-44e4-a617-6d4935c9cb52_zps050f65dc.jpg

Favorite things: I love the idea behind this app. On social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram, I follow lots of bloggers and brands and often click through to get more info on specific items I’m interested in. With Piccing, you click a few times and you can ideally purchase something similar very easily. The content on the app is great too, so I enjoyed browsing through the different categories and “piccing” items to my profile.

Not-so-favorite things: The main drawback to this app right now is that when you click on a mark, the items that come up to purchase aren’t similar to the item shown in the image. The purchase process is very easy and features lots of big brands, but it would be more useful if you could at least view items that are similar in color, style or brand. Additionally, many images don’t have marks at all. Finally, there are only eight categories to browse and add images to and it might be helpful down the road to add more or allow users to create their own. This app is brand new, so I’m guessing that as more people join, more brands sign on and more users begin marking images, these drawbacks will improve.

Home Office Pinspiration

One of my favorite things about working from home on Fridays is that I can be so productive with both work- and life-related things at once. I can get a jump start on my day early by eliminating my 40 minute commute, but also throw in a load of laundry in between work projects without completely interrupting my day.

When we first moved into our condo, we bought a desk to put in a very random room that we weren’t sure that to do with, and that became my office (with a side of laundry and storage). It worked for a while, until the wedding gifts came, and that room then became primarily storage. Since then, I’ve been working from home at our kitchen table, which is not ideal, and I’m determined to reorganize the room and not only make it a workable space, but also a room that actually looks like a real room and not just a random space.

So far, we’ve purchased a few additional pieces of furniture and started to organize the room. Once everything is in place, then comes the decorating. Here is some office inspiration that I came across this week:

More to come on this room – right now I’m thinking white, gold and aqua blue. We’ll see if that changes throughout the process!
