Over the past few years, I’ve come to love July 4th. It’s the perfect time to take a few days off and go sit by a beach, especially since so many people take time off around then so work can be quieter than usual. I admittedly have a hard time completely disconnecting when things are busy – my to do list just seems to pile up so high that I can’t wrap things up before I’m out (working on that!).
We are lucky that my in-laws have friends with a beautiful Cape house that they invite friends to stay in over the 4th, so that’s what we’ve done the past two years. But this year, we’re taking our time off out in California, first visiting friends in San Diego and then taking a short train ride up to LA for a big family wedding. We’re sad to leave the pup because we know he would love a vacation like this, but he will be on his own staycation here in the city.
