Fall Sunflowers

Fall is in full force here in New England, and I’ve been trying to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts, especially on the weekends. I love this time of year, but it goes by way too fast! In September last year, I kept seeing a beautiful sunflower field pop up on my Instagram, so this year I decided to check it out and also pick up some fresh produce for the week at the farm it’s part of. It was worth the hour-long drive – although I will admit that while the pics are pretty, IRL it was basically a giant sunflower field with people taking selfies everywhere! Definitely a great spot for a photo opp and a taste of fall.

I love floral patterns with jewel tones in them for fall, and I found exactly that in this dress. Long sleeved dresses are great transitional pieces because you can swap out your footwear from sandals to flats, then onto booties and tall boots as the temps drop. I’m very picky when it comes to flats, and the ones I’m wearing here have been my go-to since I got them last year (they’re still available and on sale here!).

I’m heading out to San Francisco tomorrow to visit a friend and am looking forward to relaxing and enjoying weather in the high 60s for a long weekend. Colder weather is going to be here before we know it! Yellow Florals

Wedding is season is in full swing right now for me – and by that I mean this weekend will be the fourth I’m going to in six weekends! While that’s left us with little free time on the weekends, I love any excuse to get dressed up and celebrate with friends and family. Usually, I either use Rent the Runway or buy dresses for specific events, but this year I bought a few different dresses at the beginning of the season that I knew I’d wear more than once and dressed them up for weddings.

I went with this yellow floral dress for a Labor Day Weekend wedding at a barn near the ocean for my husband’s cousin’s wedding. When I first spotted this dress online, I knew I had to have it. I typically gravitate toward a-line dresses that are tight at the waist but then go out from there to give room to breathe (and eat!), but for some reason this one was an exception because even though it was flowy, it still had enough shape to it. Plus it was fun to dance around in!

Since I wore this dress for a wedding, I dressed it up with cognac suede lace up block heels (similar here) and a nude bag. More recently, I put a jean jacket on top of it and went with flats. And if you love the yellow floral print but not this particular dress, you’re in luck, because it also comes in a few different styles (scroll down to shop those – they’re all on sale!).

I know fall is technically here, but we’re just starting to feel it, so I know many of you are still enjoying the summer heat! Shop this look using the links below, whether you have weddings coming up, are heading on vacation or want to save it for next spring or summer.

Beachside in New Hampshire

I grew up on the Seacoast of New Hampshire and love getting back up there, especially when it involves visiting family or friends. My mom is in the process of moving into her new house that’s just a street over from the beach and a few weeks ago we spent the day walking around and exploring the town. I’m pretty jealous she gets to take in this view daily! It was the perfect scene for taking some pics along the way, as we both love a good opportunity to play around with our cameras.

I scored this dress during the Nordstrom #Nsale and while it sold out quickly, it was finally restocked and is still under $50! I sized up because the material doesn’t have much stretch and the dress can be adjusted with the tie straps. It’s super versatile – I’ve worn it out to dinner {shown below}, to work and to a bridal shower, swapping out shoes and accessories to dress it up or down. Just throw a jean jacket, chambray shirt or sweater over it, add some booties and it’ll transition right into fall.

If you’ve been following along on Insta {@dailykatyblog} this summer, then you know these lace-up sandals have been my go-to. I got them way back in April and they’re still available and under $100. They come in dark saddle, black and yellow, and while I had a hard time deciding between the two neutral shades, I’m happy I went with dark saddle {shown below} because they really go with everything.

I know the weather is cooling down, but hope everyone gets outside during the long weekend and gets to enjoy quality time with family and friends. And if that hurricane rains on the weekend, catch up on some Netflix or shop the summer sales and new fall items. As much as I love summer, I’m getting excited for booties, jeans and flannel weather!

Gingham for July 4th

My littlest brother graduated from high school last weekend and because it was super hot out I was on the hunt for a light, flowy dress for the occasion. I found exactly what I was looking for and it was on sale for 50% off – and it’s still on sale now with code JULY4TH! Speaking of July 4, it’s perfect for the holiday weekend not only because of the weather, but because it’s easy to incorporate into a red, white and blue color scheme thanks to the navy and white gingham print.

Aside from being lightweight and perfect for summer, what I love about this dress is that I can wear it to both work with some casual sandals (these have been a go-to for years) or to something like a summer BBQ at the beach with a bathing suit underneath and flip flops. I’ll definitely be getting lots of use out of it, including a July 4 weekend party this weekend! Shop the look using the links below.

And in case you haven’t seen, there’s a new way you can shop my Instagram looks via my “Shop My Instagram” page. To get there, just go to “Shop” and then “Instgram.” I’ll also be linking to it in my Instagram profile (@dailykatyblog) so if you see something you like, it’s super easy to shop without having to clutter your inbox with emails.

Happy long weekend! xo

Splurge vs. Save – Chloe & Self Portrait

I love a good deal, especially when I can find one that looks just like the high-end designer version of whatever it is I’m shopping. I recently came across the perfect knock off of the popular Self Portrait lace midi dress so I had to share it, along with a few other knock offs of these Chloe wedges and bag. While I’d love to have the real version of all of below, I’m totally fine with the less expensive options shown on the right below – you can barely tell the difference! Shop both the designer picks and their dupes using the links, and let us know in the comments if you’ve come across other good finds!

Casual Chambray Dress

It dawned on me the other day that I’ve been buying a ton of chambray lately… button up shirts, dresses, tanks, you name it. I love that it’s appropriate for my day job but is still casual and comfortable, and you can easily dress it up with nicer pants or a shirt and jewelry. Today I’m sharing a super soft chambray dress that I paired with tan lace up sandals and a simple crossbody bag. My only complaint about this outfit is that there isn’t a huge window of time here in New England for outfits like this, but this week it was perfect! Shop the look using the links below.

Amalfi Coast Style

Next up on my Italy posts is a round-up of a few looks you may have seen sneak peeks of on my Instagram while I was traveling. I wore the three outfits below during my stay in Positano and Capri on the Amalfi Coast. The weather wasn’t as warm as I was hoping, but on the last day we finally got some signs of summer (and had to buy bathing suits from a local shop because we didn’t even bring them after seeing the forecast!).

Whether you’re abroad or here in New England, I love this time of year because you can really take advantage of layering looks to take you from day to night. Shop these three looks using the links below or on Insta (@dailykatyblog) with ShopStyle!

One-Piece Swimwear Under $60

Yesterday’s 75 degree and sunny weather was a big tease, but I loved every second of it and it had me thinking about summer. I was doing some online shopping this past weekend and found myself browsing one-piece swimsuits and decided to take the plunge and order a few to try on. I didn’t think I would end up liking them, but I figured the worst thing that would happen is they would go back to the store. Through high school, I was a competitive swimmer, so while I definitely wore a Speedo one-piece many times in my life, I never actually bought or wore a cute one. And now I’m obsessed.

There are SO many good options available – all with fun details, such as strappy backs, cut outs, mesh and more. The best part is they come at all different price points. Since I’m a newbie to one-pieces, I want to see how much I end up wearing them before buying any of the more expensive options. So today I’m sharing my picks for one-pieces under $60 – many of which are even less! And right now, you can shop these using the links below and use code STYLE to get $5 off $35 or $15 off $75.

One-Piece Swimsuits

Top: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Middle: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
