5 Leopard Print Staples

Over the past couple of years, I’ve started looking beyond black and nude as neutrals, oftentimes opting for rose or leopard print instead. This all started with a pair of leopard print booties that I found myself wearing over and over again (highly recommend them – here is this year’s version of them!).

There are so many ways you can incorporate leopard print into your wardrobe with staples like shoes, bags, cardigans and even hair accessories. Today I’m sharing a little bit of all of that – shop it all using the affiliate links below!

5-Leopard-Print-Staples

1. Flats, Heels, Booties & Sneakers: I don’t think I could possibly love my new leopard print Rothy’s loafers – I’m ready to buy them in every color (get yours for $20 off with my link)! They’re washable, made with recycled materials and also come in a pointed flat. For a fancier shoe, I’ve had my eye on these Loeffler Randall slides with block heels that come in both 2-inch and 3.5-inch heights (& also in black, gold & rose!). They’re more of an investment but think they’d get a lot of use. I have these booties and I love that I can dress them up or down. And for more casual days, these slide-on sneakers or Adidas Superstars with leopard stripes are perfect.

2. Bathing Suits: I stumbled upon the perfect high-waist leopard bikini at Target the other day (top here, bottoms here – I sized up). Other brands carry other fun leopard bikinis and one-pieces, including J.Crew, Mara Hoffman and many of the fast fashion brands. I find with the cheaper brands that just the top or bottom fits me well, but I’ve spent so little on the set that I don’t feel guilty donating the bottoms. But leopard is a classic print, so if you can swing it, grab one of the higher quality options!

3. Cardigans, Sweaters & Other Tops: This category started out as just cardigans because I’m very into this one that I got for a steal, but then I realized I had recently seen lots of other blazers, sweaters, sweatshirts and tops I wanted to share.

4. Bags: Much like shoes, I’ve always been a black, cognac and nude bag gal. But now I think a small leopard print is the perfect neutral bag when paired with the right outfits – in some cases I even like mixing prints with it! This clutch would go with anything (less $ option here) and I really like this weekender duffle as well.

5. Headbands, Bows & Hair Ties: I brought up this silk headband in a recent post and while I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying it yet, it’s still on my mind. There are lots of cute hair bows out right now too, like this one and this one. I also have a couple of these hair ties and found my go-to spiral hair ties in leopard, too.

2019 Valentine’s Day Gifts

My husband and I don’t usually do Valentine’s Day gifts – my birthday is four days beforehand and over the years we’ve opted for travel rather than things for gifts (although he does send beautiful flowers!). But that’s not to say you shouldn’t do regular gifts, as it’s always nice to receive one from someone special in your life, especially if it’s something you’ll use and love.

Whether you’re asking your significant other for something you’ve had your eye on or giving your bestie a treat, here’s a list of my favorite Valentine’s Day gifts of the year. These all make great gifts for any occasion!

Valentine's Day Gifts

1. Flowers that last a year. I had no idea these existed until a coworker got them a few years ago. They’re not cheap, but I do like the concept behind them – these real roses are pretty, come in several sizes and will last up to a year. They also come in smaller & bigger options.

2. A cozy cashmere wrap scarfA couple of my coworkers also have these and swear by them. This is definitely an investment piece, but is such high quality that you can go ahead and get rid of other blanket scarves once you get your hands on one of these. They also come in lots of different colors, so ask for one you’ll wear often. Select colors are on sale here and here.

3. A nice neutral, leather bag or wallet. I have this carryall bag and love it because it isn’t too big but still fits a ton and has a cross-body strap. This brand is one you can count on lasting – the leather is good quality and they keep costs down by selling direct-to-consumer. Their zip-up wallets are also great picks. Everything comes in several colors of leather, but I’m partial to the stone or blush colors because they go with everything.

4. A fresh pair of (rose) sneaks or slides. My husband and I are sneaker lovers, so they make for good gifts in our household. I personally think that rose pink is becoming a neutral – it goes with everything – and I love when that extends into my footwear. I love these sneakers and these slides.

5. Dainty gold jewelry. I’ve been into layering simple gold jewelry and these are pretty easy to pick out for someone else without much guidance. My favorite places to shop for these pieces are Missoma, Mejuri and Gorjana (linked some of my favorites, which more as you scroll the images below!).

6. Book a weekend getaway and accessorize with a suitcase or other travel supplies. You can’t go wrong with a nice suitcase (love this rose gold option) – Delsey sent me their hard shell suitcases last year and they were so great we ordered another set for my husband soon after. Other ideas: a leather passport wallet (less expensive version here) or a travel set with a silk pillow and eye mask. The cashmere travel wrap mentioned above also fits into this category.

7. Nice candles & spa-like skincare products. I’ll never be disappointed if someone gets me a good quality candle. This brand is one of my favorites and they have pretty rose gold sets right now (another here). But I’m also into soy candles like these, which are also rose gold. This set is filled with clean skincare products like a hydrating rose mist, lip conditioner and body polish.

Acrylic & Resin Earrings

Over the past couple of years, I’ve traded my love for statement necklaces for more dainty, layered options (like this & this) and instead opted for statement earrings. I find that I can wear statement earrings over and over again with everything from a fancy dress to a t-shirt and jeans.

While I used to swear by Rent the Runway for dresses to wear to weddings, lately I’ve been either finding less expensive options from brands like Asos or Boohoo or accessorizing simple dresses that can be worn more than once. While I was on the hunt for fun earrings to go with a black dress, I came across lots of acrylic and resin earrings and fell in love not only with the styles, but also the price points I found.

But the main reason I love acrylic and resin earrings is how lightweight they are. Even if I love a pair of earrings, I won’t buy them if they feel even the slightest bit too heavy on my ears. There are also so many fun colors and styles to choose from!

Here’s a look at the options I have in my jewelry box right now – note that these & these are from Amazon and super affordable! And I’m also sharing several other pairs below at varying price points. My favorite stores & brands for these earrings (aside from Amazon) are Baublebar, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters. Keep on scrolling down to shop wayyyy more options I found as well.

These are all 40% off and great picks for summer and beyond, so grab them while they last! Oh and everything here is under $100… most even under $50 or $25!

The gray bag below is one that I’ve had for years – it also comes in black and is affordable when it’s full-price, so even better now. The blush clutch is perfect for wedding season, along with all of the fun earrings (the gold tassels are smaller than the blue ones – click through the links for more colors). The black carry-on suitcase is under $100 – good travel staple. And of course, sales like these are the perfect time to buy things like sunglasses. I also love a fun phone case with the change of seasons and I’ve been looking for a small wallet with a zipper to travel with instead of my giant wallet.

That’s all for today! Hope everyone is signing offline and hitting the road to hang with friends and family while the good weather lasts!

Favorite Finds – 2.1.17

Rabbit, Rabbit! Happy February – my birthday month is officially here and so are the last 9 days of my 20’s. To kick off the month, I’m starting a new series: Favorite Finds. This is where I’ll share random items that I’m eyeing or recently purchased so you can check them out too. Up this week: winter boots, cozy sweaters/sweatshirts, ruffled tops and everyday sneakers. Shop the items via the widget below each section (scroll through for more options!).

Favorite Finds

1. Winter Boots: I have my heavy duty Sorel boots that I got last year, which I love, but are really for snowstorms (which we thankfully haven’t really had any of this winter yet). I’m going back and forth between Sperry and Bean Boots, so I might have to order both and see which I like better. Any tips on which Bean Boots are the best for New England winters are much appreciated!

2. Cozy Sweaters & Sweatshirts: Tis the season for all things cozy and warm… I love a big chunky cardigan paired with a simple t-shirt, or a sweatshirt that looks presentable enough to wear to work or out for drinks. There are so many available right now at all sorts of stores!

3. Ruffled Tops: I love this trend! To keep it simple, you can go with a ruffle at the bottom of your shirt for almost an oversized peplum look (peplum just never looked good on me, but this works!). And then to take it a step further, try ruffles that go across a sweater or on the end of sleeves.

4. Everyday Sneakers: Athleisure is thankfully here to stay, because sneakers have become my go-to on the weekends and even some days at the office, depending on which style they are. I love the sneakers below because they’re good for both getting some exercise and wearing to lunch or errands. They pretty much work for anything!

Rose Gold Everything

True story… I have a rose gold obsession. I came across SO many good finds that happened to be rose gold, so I knew it was time for a shopping roundup, just in time for Valentine’s Day {treat yourself!!}. Rose gold is way more versatile than I originally thought it was – it really can be treated the same way gold and silver are… except with a shade of pink, my fav.

I love how rose gold jewelry looks paired with light pink in particular, so I grabbed this dress and choker {shown below} for an upcoming trip. And I might have to get these sunglasses {also below} too since they’re only $55! I think jewelry is by far the easiest, simplest way to incorporate rose gold into your everyday outfits, both dressed up and down. My husband has talked me out of metallic rose gold sneakers a million times in the last few months, but I secretly still want them. If I lived by myself and could get away with a super girly condo, I would probably use it as an accent color {love the throw pillows below!}.

Softest Vest & Flannel Combo

For my first post of 2017, I had to share what is quite possibly the best vest ever. I had my eye on it for a while and it kept selling out, but my mom got it for me for Christmas {thanks, mom!}. So go ahead and pick one up before they’re gone again – you won’t regret it. My go-to way to wear it has been with a flannel and my favorite distressed jeans {which happen to be under $20!}, but you can really throw it on over anything from a light sweatshirt to a casual dress. It’s totally appropriate for anything from lounging around to work, as long as it works within the dress code. I also love how it looks with my new Cuyana bag – another gift! Side note: I’ve had these Uggs for about 8 years and they’re still going strong, on sale here.

As you may have noticed, I had a slow start to the year getting back in the swing of things post-holidays, but from here on out you can expect new posts here {almost} every Wednesday and Friday! And of course daily posts on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook. The countdown is on {less than a month!} to my 30th birthday and I have lots of fun content planned, including travel guides and beauty roundups that were among my most read posts of last year. Let me know in the comments if there are any other topics/posts you’d like to see!

Splurge vs. Save – Chloe & Self Portrait

I love a good deal, especially when I can find one that looks just like the high-end designer version of whatever it is I’m shopping. I recently came across the perfect knock off of the popular Self Portrait lace midi dress so I had to share it, along with a few other knock offs of these Chloe wedges and bag. While I’d love to have the real version of all of below, I’m totally fine with the less expensive options shown on the right below – you can barely tell the difference! Shop both the designer picks and their dupes using the links, and let us know in the comments if you’ve come across other good finds!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that some people love and others couldn’t care less about. I fall somewhere i the middle. The holiday comes four days after my birthday, so those two occasions combined always give my husband and I a great excuse to go out for a nice dinner. Over the years we’ve opted for vacations over big gifts, but because many of you out there are likely getting or receiving gifts to loved ones or even friends, I wanted to share a very pink gift guide with items I’m loving right now.

Cozying Up in a Faux Fur Vest

I’m still in post-vacation depression and missing the hot, sunny weather in Hawaii, but now that I’m back in the swing of things and embracing fall while it lasts. Every season I tend to have a few go-to wardrobe staples, and this fall I’ve been loving great flats, cozy lightweight sweaters and fun vests. So today I’m sharing a combo of exactly that – with a faux fur vest that I picked up last year in the middle of winter and wasn’t quite sure how to style at the time, but have since figured out (and now love!).

I’ve always loved the look of vests, but living in New England, there’s such a limited window of time to wear them in. If the beautiful fall weather lasted more than a few weeks, I would wear them as both daily attire and as outerwear. So while that time of year is here, I’ve been wearing this faux fur vest on repeat – over a nice sweater, paired with a casual shift dress and boots, you name it. As the weather gets chillier, I’m going to try pairing it with heavier sweaters or just wearing my big winter coat over it when I trek to work – we’ll see how that goes!

Today’s post includes one way I styled the vest for fall: worn over an insanely soft (and affordable!) sweater, which comes in several different colors. I’m not usually a flats gal, as I tend to prefer booties, but these flats are by far my favorite. They also come in a few different colors and also a pointed toe version, which I may have to grab in another shade while they’re on sale.
